Oct 6 – Following breakfast at the hotel we’ll enjoy a private orientation tour of Athens – Constitution Square, the House of Parliament, the Memorial to the Unkown Soldier, Hadrian’s Arch and the Panathenaic Stadium (home of the first modern Olympics in 1896).  On the Acropolis we visit the museum with its architectural masterpieces of the Golden Ages of Athens and the fabulous Parthenon.

After the tour we continue to the port of Piraeus to board the Crystal Serenity in the early afternoon.

Rome Post Cruise Package – Oct 18-19, 2008

With the early morning arrival of the Crystal Serenity it is possible to return home from Rome that day on any flights departing after noon. However, the “Eternal City” and its many treasures merit visit after visit. Enroute from the ship to the city we’ll explore a region many visitors do not experience – the Appian Way. Once again, ABOVE AND BEYOND is there to handle all the details until your departure flight home.

Our host hotel is the elegant 4-star CICERONE HOTEL located in one of the most exclusive districts in Rome and close to Vatican City, Piazza del Popolo and the Spanish Steps. Each of the 292 rooms are spacious and offer all the modern comforts expected in a World-Class hotel. See:

Oct 18 – Early this morning our private coach and guide will meet us on the pier in the port of Civitavecchia. We’ll proceed directly to the Appian Way which was built in the year 312 BC as a road for the Roman Legions marching toward Brindisi. The region is noted as a burial area for fashionable Romans. It is here that we will experience the miles of underground communal cemeteries of the early Christians – the Catacombs. A visit is also made to the cathedral of Rome, Saint John in Lateran. This basilica was built by the first Christian emperor Constantine in the IV century AD and was the first residence of the Pope. Inside are the tombs of seven popes including Pope Clemens XII who initiated construction of the Trevi Fountain.

We’ll arrive at the Cicerone Hotel early this afternoon for an evening at leisure in Rome.

Oct 19 – Following breakfast at the hotel a private car will transfer you to the airport for your return flight home. Additional hotel nights are available for those wishing to extend their stay in Rome.

Package Price: $395 double, $540 single
Extra Nights: $180 double, $250 single
